COACHING
A coaching relationship is designed to specifically meet
the needs of the person being coached, whether that be working through
a difficult life transition, being more productive in one's career,
achieving greater balance in one's life or having more meaningful relationships.
Coaching is different from psychotherapy.
Coaching can also help one find direction in life when an individual
feels "stuck". A professionally trained coach can assist a
person in reaching one's goals and dreams by providing an objective
and focused strategic relationship.
Coaching involves a series of interactive conversations, generally scheduled
on a regular (usually monthly) and/or periodic basis. These conversations
are deliberately tailored and designed for the individual being coached
to unlock his/her potential for continuous improvement and performance.
CareNet Counseling East is unique in coaching in that it encourages
the coachee to integrate one's value and faith in addressing the issues
to be dealt with in the coaching process.
Coaching can
.
Help one focus on strengths and future possibilities, not past mistakes
Create a safe environment to unlock one's potential
Help to focus in order to produce results more quickly
Close the gap between who a person is today and who one wants to be
in the future
Take an individual from "I wish" to "I am"
Give the individual a partner, an advocate and confidant
Force one to ask questions one would not have asked him/herself
Help one learn to live without a struggle
Teaches an individual to operate out of conscious choice, not out of
other people's expectations and demands
Help a person to stop feeling controlled by others and start holding
his/herself accountable for his/her life.
A coach helps a person to
Take oneself more seriously
Get more honest with oneself
Set better boundaries
Gives oneself more credit for the great things one does
Appreciate one's uniqueness
Set better, clearer goals
Live more consciously
Become more "aware" and live in the moment more often
Take more risks
Create or clarify one's own vision/mission for professional or personal
life
Honor one's values
Discover and implement unused gifts and skills
Holds oneself accountable for one's hopes, dreams and goals
Develop personal and professional balance that allows one to live at
a more meaningful level
A coach will
Offer support, structure, tools, accountability and objective insights
to further one's agenda.
Have coachee's best interest at heart and not have an agenda of one's
own.
Explain how to achieve what one wants and how to set benchmarks for
performance along the way.
Help one strategize but not run the race for the person.
